HCI Master’s program, studying how to develop educational technology for learning disabilities and assistive technology for disabilities.

While Scott was studying computer science as an undergraduate at Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute, educational technology and assistive technology attracted his
interest. He recognized a need to develop better educational software for students
with learning disabilities, many of whom do not learn well from traditional
classroom instructional methods. He also wanted to create assistive technology to
help people with disabilities secure better opportunities in life. He is planning to
become a professor in information science, HCI, or a related field so that he can
conduct research on educational and assistive technology.

Scott has designed and implemented a number of educational tools during his
studies. He created an educational MOO (multi-user domain object-oriented) called
SMILE that uses an interactive adventure to make learning fun for its users.
He also developed a suite of educational tools called EduSuite to enhance the
communication between teachers, parents, and students.
